Project Description

The Apex Mountain Fire Rescue Service is a paid-on-call department providing the Apex Mountain Resort community with a wide range of emergency services. Located well within a wildfire danger zone, our Steel Team is especially proud to have contributed to the construction of a new critical infrastructure public safety project. This 5,360-square-foot facility was designed and built to enhance emergency response capabilities for the Apex Mountain Resort community, which experiences a significant population increase during the winter months.

The fire hall is strategically situated on Apex Mountain Road, approximately 600 meters northwest of the ski hill base, at an elevation of about 1,744 meters above sea level. This location was selected to provide optimal response times to emergencies within the resort and surrounding areas.

The facility’s post-disaster building classification ensures that it remains operational during and after extreme events, providing a reliable base for emergency services. The building’s design incorporates a Brite Red Reverse PBR cladding and a Charcoal trapezoidal standing seam roof, blending functionality with aesthetic appeal.

Insulation was a key consideration, with R38 cavity fill in the walls and R50 fiberglass-faced blanket MBI in the roof, ensuring energy efficiency and comfort in the mountain climate. The inclusion of 16′ x 12′ overhead doors accommodates the swift deployment of emergency vehicles.

This project underscores Liberty Steel Buildings’ ability to deliver resilient and efficient structures that meet the unique needs of communities like Apex Mountain Resort.
